In 1983, Bob started shooting at age 8 with the Washington County MN 4-H Shooting Sports / Conservation Project in BB gun. In subsequent years Bob also shot pellet rifle and pistol and archery. After completing the Minnesota DNR Hunter’s Safety course, Bob also competed in .22 Rifle and trapshooting. At age 16, Bob became certified as a 4-H Youth Leader and as a MN DNR Certified Hunter Safety Instructor and assisted in leading the 4-H activities. Bob won the Minnesota 4-H State Trapshooting Championship at age 16 with a score of 98.
Bob began his competitive trapshooting career shooting leagues at Hudson (WI) Rod and Gun Club and at Metro Gun Club in Blaine. In 1989, Bob began shooting targets registered by the Amateur Trapshooting Association (ATA) and participated in many local, regional, state and national competitions where his parents and younger brother also competed. The highlights of Bob’s ATA registered career include several Minnesota State Shoot trophies and shooting on the National Champion High School Team at the Grand American World Trapshooting Championships in Vandalia, Ohio. While shooting that event, Bob shot his second (first registered) 100 straight and finished the 200 target championship event with a 198. Since, then, Bob has taken advanced training from Harlan Campbell, Jr. and taken Bob Palmer’s Mind vs. Target, Levels 1 and 2.
Currently, Bob is the Head Coach for Orange Crushers Trapshooting, an ATA Lifetime Member, an NRA Patriot Life Member at the Benefactor Level, NRA Certified Range Safety Officer, NRA/ATA Certified Shotgun Coach, Level II, AIM Coach, Level II, Positive Coaching Alliance Double-Goal Coach Certified and USA High School Clay Target League CLASS Certified. Bob continues to shoot ATA targets, usually with his wife, Coach Catie, parents, Bob Sr. and Mary Lou and family friends.

Catie began an interest in shooting through her husband Bob, whose family are gun and shooting sports enthusiasts. She enjoys traveling with her husband and his parents to various trap shoot events throughout the year, gaining more and more knowledge of the sport.
Catie has participated in Trap Shooting for Women and Women on Target, learning additional skills and techniques to improve her own trap shooting skills over the last fifteen years. In the summer of 2015, she attended advanced training from Harlan Campbell, Jr. and has joined the ATA and enjoys shooting with her husband, Coach Bob, her in-laws, Bob, Sr. and Mary Lou and family friends.
In the summer of 2016, she competed in her first ever Grand American World Trapshooting Championships in Sparta, IL. During her first 200 Singles Championship event, she shot her first 25 straight, resulting in her highest ever score at 93×100. That afternoon, shot her second 25 straight for a matching score of 93×100 for a total of 186×200. She has also competed and earned awards in various other local, state and Satellite Grand shooting competitions. Additionally, at the 2018 Grand American World Trapshooting Championships in Sparta, IL she shot her best score to date in any discipline, a 97×100 in the Caesar Guerini Preliminary Handicap event resulting in her having to shoot off and ultimately taking 4th in the Lady I Category.
In the summer of 2019, in the first hundred targets of the 200 target ATA World Clay Target Championship Presented by Browning event at the Grand American World Trapshooting Championships in Sparta, IL, she shot her first 75 straight, and turned it into her first 100 straight. That afternoon, she continued the streak hitting the first 27 targets before dropping a bird, ending with a 194×200 on the event. She also earned her first trophy at the 2019 Grand American earning Class C Runner-up in the ATA High-All-Around presented by E-Z-Go/Little Egypt which is the the 400 bird Championship events (200 16-yard singles, 100 doubles and 100 handicap targets over three days). Her score was a 378×400.
For the 2019 ATA Target Year, Catie achieved a major goal in her shooting career, landing a spot on the Women’s State Team for the Minnesota Trapshooting Association. Her combined average for the 2019 target year was 88.83% on a total of 4300 targets (singles, handicap and doubles combined). To achieve this, there are minimum number of registered targets, a minimum number of clubs shot at in Minnesota and certain required events at either the State Zone Shoot or the State Shoot. After determining who met the criteria for the year, the top six averages of the women who met the criteria comprise the Women’s State Team.
Currently, Catie is an Assistant Coach with the Orange Crushers Trapshooting, an ATA Lifetime Member, NRA Patriot Life Member at the Benefactor Level, NRA Certified Range Safety Officer, NRA/ATA Certified Shotgun Coach, Level II, AIM Coach, Level II and Positive Coaching Alliance Double-Goal Coach Certified.
